Preserving Natural Teeth Utilizing Zygomatic Implants and Immediate Loading
The patient is a healthy 62-year-old female, and a smoker. She came to the clinic with periodontal disease that presents with great loss of teeth and teeth mobility, especially in the mandible. There was loss of bony support for the remaining teeth and loss of posterior occlusal support. She uses old removable partial dentures, and often does not use the lower denture.
Due to the lack of bony support in the lower jaw, and the mobility of the teeth, it was decided to extract all of the teeth and move to an implant supported bridge which provides posterior occlusal support with immediate loading. On the upper maxilla all remaining teeth are preserved except for tooth #27 (15), using zygomatic and pterygoid implants in order to achieve immediate loads in those areas as well.
