Fractured Canine Buccal Plate Reconstruction

BY DR. MICHAEL KATZAP

The patient fractured her left maxillary canine. Due to the crowns on the medial and large restoration on the distal, the patient initially contemplated a bridge. Root banking was refused.

The tooth was extracted and the socket was grafted with Augma Bond ApatiteŽ. During the extraction a segment of the buccal plate was lost, and so it was decided to wait to place the implant. Upon reentry Hydroxyapatite particles can be seen embedded in the regenerated buccal plate.

Final crown placed 4 months after implant placement.
